Celebrant Cindy Matchett

About Cindy Matchett

Cindy Matchett became a Celebrant to help people honor the milestones in their lives. As an independent, interfaith “ceremony specialist,” Cindy delivers thoughtful and personal ceremonies which represent the beliefs and values of her clients. Celebrants are not affiliated with any particular religion; we design our ceremonies to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

Since childhood, Cindy has been drawn to finding the meaning in everyday life events.  She earned a B.A. in psychology from Smith College, specializing in language development, and a B.F.A. in sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art, specializing in fibers and textiles. Her artwork—photography on fabric, weaving, and installation—has been exhibited in galleries across the United States.

In 2005, she became certified as the first Celebrant in New England by the Celebrant Foundation & Institute, and earned her licensing as a Massachusetts officiant and interfaith minister. A year and a half later, her family welcomed their son with two community baby blessing ceremonies and four Celebrants! As the Celebrant Foundation’s longest serving faculty member, she has had the distinctive pleasure of teaching and mentoring the area’s growing group of Celebrant officiants along with her ongoing work with couples and families.

Cindy has recently written an ebook called The Essential 10 Guide To Meaningful Weddings, based on a full-length guide in process. Cindy’s writing has also been published in the DaCapo Staying Sane series (Staying Sane When You’re Planning Your Wedding), and she has been featured in local and national media including The Boston Globe, Bride’s Magazine, Boston Spirit magazine, EDGE, MSN, Massachusetts CNC newspapers, and iParenting Online.

Cindy has composed and performed meaningful life ceremonies with hundreds of families from all over the world. Her specialty is getting to know her clients from the inside out, and guiding them to design a ceremony that expresses their uniqueness, while providing a calming and respectful presence throughout. She loves every second of it!
