How We Work Together
Each meaningful ceremony I create comes out of hours of deep thought, work and research that results in one-of-a-kind weddings, baby blessings, adoptions, house warmings, step-family tributes, major birthdays, showers, renewal of vows and special achievements.
Friendly Initial Consultation:
We begin with a no-charge, no-obligation meeting or phone call to get to know each other (during which I take a lot of notes!) Once we begin working together, I then create a draft of the ceremony from scratch, based on who you are and what you hope for the day, using a questionnaire and our interviews. I listen very carefully to you, to understand what each of you wants, and work very hard to find positive compromises and solutions for everyone.
Collaborative Writing Process:
The draft is revised as many times as you wish until you are completely thrilled with the result. I work with you and your families if we are using interfaith elements to be sure we are using them in ways that feel comfortable to everyone. I also have a wide range of resources and can advise on readings, vows, symbols and other elements for the ceremony. You have final say over the whole ceremony, so there are no surprises on the day itself (except for the unavoidable human ones!)
Calm and Reassuring Guidance:
On the day of your ceremony, I arrive early and manage the event so you can simply participate and enjoy. I am proud to deliver your ceremony with the highest professionalism, warmth and sincerity, and gracefully tend to the details, freeing you to be fully present with the ones you love.
Prices & Gift Certificates:
Pricing is based on the individual aspects of the ceremony, and Meaningful Celebrations packages include meetings, research, writing, officiating, and a rehearsal or walk-through if necessary. A baby blessing at your home, for example, with a simple review of various roles before we begin is usually around $400 plus modest travel fees outside the Boston MetroWest area; writing an Heirloom Values document is $200, with additional artist fees unique to creating each beautiful presentation or keepsake; a richly-developed wedding with an in-person rehearsal the day before, a large wedding party to coordinate, travel outside the region and overnight accomodation might be $950. Gift certificates available—a ceremony would make a wonderful present for a loved one!
